History of Allen-Photos.com

My name is Chris Allen. In 2005 I first started allen-photos.com to post my pictures of my friends bodyboarding so they could easily enjoy them.  I never thought that over a decade later it would lead to traveling all over the world and meeting hundreds of people.  There are two main drivers behind my photography, one that I always do it for passion rather than a career.  There have been years that have produced few photos and there have been years that have produced thousands.  To me it’s about the pure love of taking pictures of what I like to take pictures of.  Second being that all my photos are easily available for everyone to enjoy, whether their on my site or you have to email me.I typically always give all my photos to people for free, so reach out.

My main topic of my photograph has always been bodyboarding and surfing. I have travelled to Hawaii, Ireland, Mexico, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Canada, and New Zealand in search of waves.  Beyond the surf culture, I love the mountains and outdoors,  spending nearly every weekend exploring the wilderness with or without my camera.

Over the past couple years I have also endeavored into another past time activity, that being endurance sports. I ran my first mile in 2011 and from there I was hooked.  To me running was the same experience I felt being in the ocean, peace.  Not only did running help me elude reality for a few hours but it also provided me with ability to explore places I had never been.  However, it didn’t end at running, in fact it did the complete opposite of that, it snowballed into the IRONMAN 140.6.  To me, the IRONMAN is the ultimate race, the race I truly love, the one race which is not over until you cross the line.  It takes an immense about time and discipline to get ready for an IRONMAN.  In 2014 I did my first IRONMAN in Kalmar Sweden, finishing at 9:48:30.  Two years later I finished IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene at 9:38:42, 1st in my age group and 5th overall.  I would go on that year to be the 3rd fast American in my age group at the World Championship in Hawaii.

As mind wonder in 2017 on what race I was going to do in the coming years I decided to try and put together a blog. A blog about both my photography and endurance sports.  The idea behind it was simple, to keep sharing my photographic journeys with everyone while also providing helpful insight into the world of IRONMAN.  So I hope you enjoy.

Cheers,

Chris Allen
